The Council of Europe calls on both sides of the Karabakh conflict to stop the completely unnecessary bloodshed, which does not lead anywhere, a statement of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Torbern Jagland, reads.
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe expressed his deep concern at the escalation of hostilities on the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "The Council of Europe calls on both sides to stop this completely unnecessary bloodshed that leads nowhere except to further violence and loss of lives, including of many civilians. I urge the parties to protect the right to life as guaranteed by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights, return to the ceasefire and resume the peace talks. This is a humanitarian imperative,’’ Torbern Jagland stressed, NEWS.am reports.
