Tea Godoladze, head of the Institute for Earth Sciences and the National Center for Seismology of Georgia, said that the seismic hazard at the Rikoti Pass had not been studied.
Earlier it was reported about the closure of the pass due to the threat of a landslide.
There is currently a special regime for cars in place.
"In a word, seismic hazard has not been assessed on the Rikoti highway. Again, a review of our 24-year-old work has been "repeated". This must stop, otherwise we will be in a very difficult situation", she said.
Further, Godoladze said that at present the preparation of a report was underway on the cause of landslide processes. Besides, the specialist said that measures were being developed to prevent such emergencies.
