Turkey has opened a criminal investigation into the leader of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas, on charges ranging from humiliating the Turkish people to insulting the president and the state. According to the Hurriyet newspaper, some of his statements were propaganda for a terrorist organisation.
Diyarbakir Public Prosecutors Office sent a request to the Justice Department to remove HDP co-chair Demirtaş's immunity, Trend reports.
