Selahattin Demirtas may be deprived of parliamentary immunity

The head of the Turkish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtas, may be deprived of his parliamentary immunity.

Turkey’s Justice Ministry appealed to the parliament for depriving Demirtas and other MPs from the HDP of parliamentary immunity, the Anadolu Agency reports.

Following the terrorist attack in Ankara city on February 17, some MPs from the Peoples’ Democratic Party took part in the funeral of the suicide bomber, who was a PKK member.

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan demanded the parliament to deprive five MPs from the HDP of their parliamentary immunity, Trend reports.
