Sevindzh Gasanova: Azerbaijan and Russia have exclusive relations

The Deputy Minister for Economic Development of Azerbaijan, Sevindzh Gasanova, told Russian journalists about the development of cooperation between two countries on the sidelines of official events held in the framework of the visit by representatives of the Russian media to Azerbaijan on the eve of the parliamentary elections on November 1st.

"The fact that 17 intergovernmental commissions are operating between Azerbaijan and subjects of the Russian Federation shows the exclusiveness of Russian-Azerbaijani relations," the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza cited her as saying.

"There is wide cooperation between Azerbaijan and St. Petersburg, Dagestan, Tatarstan, Moscow, Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk. Presidents' visits are marking a very important milestone in the development of bilateral relations between any countries," she said.

She drew attention to the fact that president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has officially visited Moscow 36 times, and the Russian leader has arrived in Baku 9 times. Sevindzh Gasanova noted that the last visit of Vladimir Putin during the First European Games was very important for Azerbaijan.

In addition to good political contacts at the highest level, economic partnership between the two countries is also developing. Thus, the deputy minister said that there are about 600 large enterprises with Russian investments in the country.

"The investments of Azerbaijan in the Russian economy amount to more than $1 billion. Russian investments in Azerbaijan's economy are also more than $1 billion, according to the latest figures, they amount to $1.6 billion.
