Russia can apply a self-employed tax in more regions but not in the entire country, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said at a meeting on national projects in Tyumen.
"There has been no decision so far, whether we will extend the right to introduce the professional income tax on the entire territory or just extend the list of Russian regions. But it is obvious that we must extend this activity," the Prime news agency cited the minister as saying.
Siluanov added that the increase of the number of applying regions is planned from 2020.
In November 2018, President Vladimir Putin signed into law the bills to introduce a professional income tax for self-employed people in a pilot mode for 2019–2028.
The law introduces a 4% tax if services are provided to individuals and a 6% tax if services are provided to self-employed individuals and companies. The income limit for the tax is 200,000 rubles per month.
