Some TV companies to be suspended in Armenia

The broadcasting of five Armenian TV companies will be temporarily suspended, the head of HR department at Armenian TV and Radio Broadcasting Network CJSC, Garik Hayrapetyan, said.

According to him, the TV companies have failed to meet their contractual obligations and have accumulated debts.

‘We tried to resolve this issue through negotiations. As a result, some TV channels have repaid the accumulated debts in full, and some - partially. Nevertheless, according to the agreement we plan to temporarily suspend the broadcasting of several TV companies, for the first time for two hours," Hayrapetyan said.

According to Hayrapetyan, the channels in question are:

• Shant
• ATV
• Freenews
• DAR 21
• Fortuna

He added that there was no political subtext in the decision.
