St. George's Church hosts mourning service for victims of plane crash in Egypt

Today, Moscow's Georgian Church of St. George on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street held a memorial service for the 224 victims of the A321 plane crash in Egypt on October 31st.

"This is a great tragedy for all of us. Unfortunately, the troubles that occur in our lives are the result of the sins which were accumulated in us. We must pray to God, for him to forgive all the sins of these people, the innocent victims of this terrible act of terrorism," the abbot of the church Father Fyodor (Krechetov) noted.

His parishioner, student of MGIMO Giorgi Turawa stressed that there is no religion in the world that would teach violence and evil. "Every religion urges us to mutual understanding and love. The tragedy on the liner A32 is not just the tragedy of Russia, but of the entire world. We, the representatives of the Georgian nation, mourn together with our Orthodox brothers and sisters," he said.

The mourning service ended with lighting of candles in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
