Stability of political systems of modern world discussed in Saint Petersburg

On January 28th-30th St. Petersburg hosted the international conference 'Problems of stability of political systems of the modern world.' The event, organized by the Russian Society of Political Scientists, was attended by representatives of leading scientific and political institutions of Russia, France, India and other countries.

On January 28th the Central Naval Museum hosted the opening of a photography exhibition dedicated to the political activity of the former Russian Prime Minister, Yevgeny Primakov. The dean of the Faculty of Political Science of Moscow State University, Professor Andrei Shutov, noted that this exhibition is also scheduled to be held in late May - early June in Suzdal, where the next congress of the Russian Society of Political Scientists will be held.

According to Shutov, Yevgeny Primakov often lectured at the Faculty of Political Science of Moscow State University and held meetings with students. "Recently, the university administration in the face of its rector, academician Viktor Sadovnichy, decided to assign his name to the auditorium where Yevgeny Maximovich Primakov gave lectures," the dean stated.

The conference was opened by the acting president of the Russian Society of Political Scientists, head of the State Policy Department of the Political Science Faculty of Moscow State University, Vladimir Yakunin. In his speech, he drew attention to the fact that the Russian school of political science must not only try to properly analyze the processes occurring in the world, but also learn how to give correct predictions about what awaits the world political system.

Yakunin stressed that the American system demonstrated its inefficiency, and therefore it is necessary to search for new models of development of world politics. "The flat model of 'Economics and Politics', regardless of the rearrangement of terms, is insufficient. We need a multidimensional version of it, where in addition to economics and politics, 'the human factor in a person' will also be considered." Only then can we reach the moment of the occurrence of a stable world order," he concluded.

After the official part of the event, the meeting by sections was held, during which they discussed topical issues such as the value-cultural, legal, social and economic aspects of sustainability of political systems, political leadership, political institutions and technologies.

French journalist and political scientist, Eric Zemmour, who took part in the conference, commented on the relations between Russia and the European Union. According to him, for the resumption of relations between Russia and the European Union it is necessary for France and Germany to "pull together" their foreign policy and change their attitude towards Russia.
