The United States believes that Russia and Turkey agree to discuss the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya, a high-ranking State Department spokesman said, according to the press service of the State Department.
"We’re basically in a position where both the Turks and the Russians have agreed that this could be a topic of discussion, that let’s talk about whether you could get 300 Syrians on side and 300 Syrians from the other side, put them on a plane, and get them somewhere just as a tangible, practical first step. These processes always work step by step," the official said.
The situation in Libya is moving in the right direction and there is a chance to achieve stability, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said yesterday after the second Berlin conference on Libya.
"We believe that the situation is moving in the right direction by and large," he said. "All decisions that are being made at the level of the international community, including the UN Security Council and by the Libyans themselves contribute to this."
Armed presence in Libya must be scaled down and this must be done in a well-considered way, Vershinin stressed. "We believe that the situation is relatively stable, both in the eastern and western parts of the country," he added.
