The United States would like to have stronger relations with Russia, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said.
"Overall, I can tell the United States’ government would certainly prefer to have a stronger relationship with the Russian government," she told reporters.
At the same time, Nauert declined to comment on the possible meeting of the presidents of Russia and US, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
On Friday, Trump said it was possible that he will meet the Russian president this summer.
