Seven people have been killed in a suicide bombing in Damascus, in the biggest such attack in the Syrian capital since March.
A suicide bomber blew himself up on Sunday in Tahrir Square in central Damascus after being encircled by the authorities, The Guardian reports.
A police officer at the scene said seven people were killed and 13 wounded in that attack. Two car bombs were destroyed by the authorities, state media said.
State TV said the death toll had been minimised because the security forces had prevented “the terrorists from reaching their targets,“ saying they had aimed to target busy areas on the first day back to work after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
