Syunik region refuses to obey Nikol Pashinyan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan left Yerevan for Syunik region today to inspect the process of demarcation and delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, but so far he has not been able to reach the border town of Goris - all roads have been blocked by local residents.

According to a video posted by Pashinyan, at first he went to Goris by car. In this video, Pashinyan said he was going to Syunik region to "talk openly" with the local population. "When talking with residents of Syunik, I will not look away. I have fulfilled my obligations to you in full," he said, stressing that he did not want to provoke a new conflict, but only wanted to "answer questions, looking into the eyes."

Residents of the Syunik region took to the roads with the slogans "Nikol - Turk" and announced they would not let him into their region. They were supported by local officials. Thus, Deputy Mayor of Goris Menua Hovsepyan said that it makes no sense for Nikol Pashinyan to come here

"They will not listen to him, there is no place for him here. Syunik region definitely does not have such a prime minister, he is not our prime minister. The only thing he can do is to detain us. Let him detain us as long as he wants," Hovsepyan said, adding that he is not afraid of Nikol Pashinyan.

Due to the inability to drive through the crowds of protesters, Pashinyan nevertheless boarded a helicopter and landed in the village of Sarnakunk. He met with local residents in a dense environment of security officials in order to exclude any attacks. From behind the backs of the military, he promised that the security of the Armenian borders would be ensured.
