The seismotectonic features of the Greater Caucasus region will soon be studied by the joint collegium of scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS Gurban Yetirmisli said.
"Collaborative research will be conducted with the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the RAS. The work implied the carrying out seismotomographic studies of great depths, studying seismotectonic features of the Southern Slope of the Greater Caucasus, including the identification of an earthquake epicenter," Trend cited him as saying.
Gurban Yetirmisli added that the program of cooperation with Russian seismologists is designed for two years and will start in the coming days.
