Three-day kefir may be dangerous

Nutritionist Elena Solomatina spoke about the dangers of old kefir stored for more than three days.

She urged people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, individual intolerance, allergies to milk protein and drivers not to drink three-day kefir. She advised paying attention to the expiration date of the product, since the properties of the drink change with time, Lenta.ru writes.

According to the doctor, one-day, young yoghurt can be given even to babies. Later, however, the bacteria ferment the sugar, turning the drink almost into vinegar. Kefir becomes sour due to ethanol forming in it. That is why it may be dangerous for people with gastritis, ulcers and pancreatitis.
