US President Donald Trump’s national security advisor, Herbert McMaster, will visit Istanbul this weekend and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will visit the Turkish capital Ankara next week.
According to the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media, Tillerson and Mcmaster are scheduled to meet their Turkish counterparts, the source, Anadolu Agency reported.
The official visits come amid heightened tension between the United States and Turkey, with the latter staging an ongoing military operation into the Syrian district of Afrin against the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).
