A federal prison service car took Former Russian Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev from his home, where he is under house arrest, to Moscow's Zamoskvoretsky district court, where the hearing of the case against him will be opened today.
Asked by journalists outside the courthouse if he acknowledged his guilt, Ulyukayev said: "What do you think? Of course not."
Ulyukayev is the first federal minister to be prosecuted in modern Russia. He is facing up to 15 years in prison and yet, he denies the accusations.
Alexei Ulyukayev was detained on charges of taking a $2-million bribe. The Investigative Committee claims that it has testimony of witnesses, audio and video recordings and "characteristic traces on fingers."
