U.S. President Donald Trump said he had not been surprised that France had invited Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for talks on the sidelines of the G7 gathering in Biarriz.
The U.S. leader said that French President Emmanuel Macron notified him in advance that a top Iranian diplomat would be invited to the G7 summit. "I knew everything he was doing,” Trump said of Macron.
However, Trump said he had not wanted to see Zarif himself, adding that it was too soon for such an encounter, Reuters reported.
