Türkiye will explore oil and gas fields off the coast of Somalia. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of the Republic, Alparslan Bayraktar, on July 18.
He emphasized that Ankara had already agreed with Mogadishu to carry out the relevant work.
"The sea depth in the work area varies between 2-3 km, but in general drilling will be carried out to a depth of up to 7 km",
the Turkish minister said.
He focused on the fact that Türkiye had the capabilities to independently carry out drilling and exploration work in the offshore zone.
"The Oruç Reis has a crew of 50 people. This ship will be accompanied by five auxiliary ships, as well as Turkish Navy vessels, on its way to Somalia",
the Turkish Minister of Energy said.
