Türkiye has launched a large-scale military-industrial project for the production of submarines independent of imported technologies and components. According to the defense department, the shipyards of the plant in Gölcük will start to assemble the first national submarines of the MILDEN class in two years. In another five years, they will start to enter service.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the Turkish military industry has begun to implement the MILDEN project, which is of strategic importance for the military-industrial complex of the republic. In the framework of the project, within seven years, the shipyard in Gölcük will design and deliver the first submarines produced entirely with national technologies to the Turkish army.

At present, Gölcük produces 6 214TN Reis-class submarines jointly with Germany.  After that, the active phase of the construction of national submarines will begin at Gölcük shipyards.

According to the plans of the Turkish defense department, the construction of test benches for submarine structures will begin this year, and the actual assembly of combat vehicles will start in 2025.

The Ministry of Defense hopes to deliver the first national submarines of the MILDEN class to the Naval Forces of the Republic by 2030.
