Turchak unveils how many foreign-company employed Russians face layoffs, downtime

About 600,000 people in Russia who worked in foreign companies of unfriendly countries have gone inactive or are at risk of being laid off since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, Andrey Turchak, First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council (the upper house) and Secretary of the United Russia party’s General Council, said on Thursday.

"Before the start of the special military operation, about 2 million people worked in foreign companies belonging to countries unfriendly to us. Now, 600,000 have been placed on inactive duty or are at risk of being laid off," Turchak said, speaking at the All-Russian Municipal Forum.
