Turkey widens free trade agreement with Georgia

Georgia and Turkey have agreed to widen an existing free trade agreement, so Georgian producers will soon be able to increase export volume to Turkey by 20%.

The final round of negotiations was held Ankara, where delegations of both countries met each other to finalise talks about widening the free trade agreement.

The quotas set on Georgian lemon, kiwifruit, grape, dry fruit, fruit and vegetable cans, juices and food ingredients, were abolished. Meanwhile, the quotas increased on honey and livestock animals, Agenda.ge reported.

Georgian delegation was headed by Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili, while the Turkish delegation was led by Turkey’s Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci.
