Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said that the work to put Russian-made S-400 surface-to-air missile systems into operation will continue until the spring of 2020.
"The work, after which these [S-400] air defense systems will become fully operational, will continue until the spring of 2020," the Anadolu news agency cited Akar as saying.
The defense minister said that Turkey continues talks with Washington on the possible delivery of U.S. Patriot surface-to-air missile systems.
In July, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara might start "actively operating S-400 systems in April 2020," after the Turkish personnel underwent required training.
