Turkey has frozen the assets of the former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh, in line with a decision by the UN Security Council, the government said in its Official Gazette.
All of Saleh's assets in Turkish banks and other financial institutions are frozen until February 26, Reuters reports.
Most of this wealth was believed to have been transferred abroad under false names or the names of others holding the assets on his behalf, the investigators have said.
The ex-president’s eldest son, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, also faced an asset freeze in accordance with the sanctions, as well as the rebel group’s military commander Abd al-Khaliq al-Houthi, Houthi leader Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, and the Houthi’s second-in-command, Abdullah Yahya al Hakim.
