Turkish parliament evacuated over reports terror attack imminent

Turkey’s parliament has been evacuated over reports an attack was imminent – just days after the country was plunged into chaos by an attempted coup.

The building in Ankara was put into lock-down over the terror fears. Security was immediately stepped up and the gates were slammed shut after the alert was made early this afternoon.

Ziya Pir of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party wrote on Twitter: “We were notified of an attack, the Meclis [parliament] is being evacuated.”

Police have now said the warning turned out to be a false alarm.

However, no more explanation has been given. Police are said to be investigating what happened.

The country remains on a high state of alert
