The adoption of a resolution on the so-called 'Armenian genocide' by the U.S. Senate does not reflect the official policy of the White House administration, U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger said.
The diplomat stressed that this resolution is a document of the legislative body.
"The Senate has made a decision on this issue and we must take this into account But this does not reflect the official policy of the White House administration," he explained.
Litzenberger recalled that the U.S. and Turkey are allies, close friends and partners, noting that they will continue cooperation.
The U.S. senators unanimously passed a resolution yesterday, recognizing the so-called 'Armenian genocide'. The Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the resolution.
