U.S. introduces new restrictions against Russia and Belarus

The U.S. Administration in coordination with its allies and partners introduces new restrictions against Russia and Belarus, the White House said in its written statement.

"Sweeping restrictions on Belarus to choke off its import of technological goods in response to its support" of Russia are introduced, the Administration said.

Sanctions will also cover 22 Russian defense entities, according to the document. "In total, 22 Russian defense-related entities will be designated, including firms that make combat aircraft, infantry fighting vehicles, electronic warfare systems, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles for Russia’s military," the White House said.

Export control will be imposed for oil and gas producing equipment. "Through export controls on oil and gas extraction equipment, the Commerce Department will impose restrictions on technology exports that would support Russia’s refining capacity over the long term," the statement says.

The US will also target entities supporting Russian and Belarusian military and will ban Russian aircraft from entering and using the US domestic airspace, the White House said. "This includes aircraft certified, operated, registered or controlled by any person connected with Russia," according to the statement.
