The United States welcomes UN Secretary General Guterres’ announcement that an agreement has been reached between the Government of Syria and the Syrian Negotiations Commission to form a Constitutional Committee facilitated by the United Nations in Geneva, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said.
According to her, Washington believes this is "an encouraging step."
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced the formation of a constitutional committee for Syria. He said he believes that the launch of the committee can, and must, be the beginning of the political path out of the tragedy.
