Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that relations between Washington and Moscow have reached a critical point.
He stressed that Russia is open to "diplomatic cooperation based on mutual respect and equality." "Especially now, when the world is facing so many challenges that require a coordinated response from the entire world community, including terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change, and food security,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
The diplomat noted that Russia is an influential and responsible representative of the world community, which respects international law. "The priorities of our foreign policy are clear: to maintain the security of borders and create favourable conditions for internal development. Russia has always advocated a system of equal and indivisible security," the ambassador added.
At the same time, Antonov believes that today relations between Washington and Moscow have reached a critical point. He emphasized that "because of the United States, bilateral political dialogue has now reached a dead end. Moreover, hostility has become part of everyday life.”
Antonov is confident that the interaction between countries ”will play a key role in terms of ensuring security in the world." "The dialogue between our countries is in the interest of the entire world community," the ambassador concluded.
