US and Turkey agree on operations in Mosul and Raqqa

US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated that the country is against the merging of areas known as Kurdish cantons in northern Syria, which are controlled by PKK's Syrian offshoot YPG.

Speaking in an interview for Turkish broadcaster NTV, Anthony Blinken said that Turkey and the US have made important progress regarding the fight against said ISIL.

"We have come to a point that we have now seized the opportunity to remove this regional structure that calls itself a 'caliphate' both in Iraq and Syria. Only Mosul, Raqqa and Dabiq remains in ISIL's so called caliphate. Therefore we will work on various plans to recapture these regions," the Daily Sabah cited Blinken as saying.

The plan to liberate Mosul from ISIL was also shared and discussed with Turkish authorities during the visit, Blinken said.
