The Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project represents a key contribution to the goal of energy diversification, the US ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt said.
"TAP is a real project, unlike some of other pipes,” Pyatt said.
“It is the first new infrastructure for energy anywhere in Europe, specifically constructed to carry non-Russian gas. Therefore, it represents a key contribution to that goal of energy diversification. And it generates employment and income for Greece,” Trend cited him as saying.
TAP is a part of the Southern Gas Corridor which is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. The TAP project envisages transportation of gas from the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz gas and condensate field to the EU countries.
