The US Secretary of State will begin an official visit to Israel on June 10. During the visit, he will promote a three-stage settlement plan in Gaza. The plan involves the release of hostages and the establishment of peace in Gaza.
It was previously reported that this plan had been rejected by representatives of both the Palestinian radicals Hamas and the Israeli side. The stumbling block was the issue of a ceasefire: the Israelis are ready to exchange prisoners, but refuse to cease fire and leave the enclave.
The message about the visit comes against the backdrop of rumours about the resignation of the Chairman of the National Security Council and opponent of the current head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Benny Gantz, from the government. In May, Gantz announced that he would resign unless Netanyahu presented a plan for a settlement in the Palestinian enclave by June 8. We also note that Gantz is aiming to replace Netanyahu and intends to create "a government that will achieve victory".
