Public support for the Iran deal has reached its highest point previously recorded, according to a new poll, right as a deadline approaches for US President Donald Trump to re-certify the agreement in 10 days.
56% of people polled in the Morning Consult–Politico survey backed the nuclear deal, while 265 opposed it. Republican voters are split, with 46% of voters in favor of the bill versus 42% against it. The level of net support is at its highest since the last time it reached 56%, in April 2017.
The survey polled 1,991 registered voters and has a 2 percentage point margin of error, Hill reported.
The agreement, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was agreed upon between Iran and the United States, China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom and the European Union back in 2015.
