Uzbekistan to vaccinate children aged 5 - 11 against COVID-19

Uzbekistan allowed the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 against coronavirus, Nurmat Otabekov, Deputy Head of the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, said on Thursday.

The decision to vaccinate children against coronavirus was made to prevent the spread of the omicron strain, taking into account the recommendations of international and national experts.

Vaccination will take place on a voluntary basis (with the consent of parents or guardians). A third of the Pfizer vaccine's adult dose will be used.

Children from the age of 12 can be vaccinated against coronavirus in the republic from September 2021.
