Today, the Moscow City Court decided to detain Aleksandra Ivanova (Varvara Karaulova), a student of the philosophy faculty at Moscow State University, in a pre-trial detention center. She was arrested for contacts with a recruiter of the banned terrorist group Islamic State and preparing to escape to Syria in order to join it.
