Hosts of the 'National Question’ program on Vesti FM, Gia Saralidze and Marat Safarov, told about the series of events in Moscow dedicated to great Azerbajani poet Nasimi, which has started today.
"The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which actively implements cultural projects abroad, regularly organizes large-scale events in Moscow. On November 19, a festival will be held dedicated to the outstanding Azerbaijani medieval mystical poet Nasimi. Many of our listeners know outstanding Persian and Turkic medieval poets Fizuli, Omar Khayyam and Nizami, but Nasimi is less widely represented in Russia, although his works were translated by Konstantin Simonov. Nasimi, in particular, is known for his death as a poet and a rebel in Aleppo, where he was executed on the orders of the local authorities, he was accused of being a Sufi," Marat Safarov said.
"In 1970, Heydar Aliyev visited Aleppo and Nasimi’s grave at the invitation of Syrian President Hafez Asad. Many years later, interest in the poet is reviving in Azerbaijan. The Nasimi festival will be held in the the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's offices abroad, including in Russia. The Nasimi bust will be unveiled in Moscow at MGIMO and the interesting events will be held at the Moscow State University and the Institute of Asian and African countries, which will host major, large-scale conference," the host emphasized.
Gia Saralidze drew attention to the significance of such events in Moscow. "It is important that such things are held in our capital, that the names undeservedly forgotten in the post-Soviet space are being returned in Moscow, because such events attract the attention of the public, the widest audience. In this regard, it is important that our capital, and Russia in general, remains an essential center of cultural ties in the post-Soviet space," he concluded.
On November 19-20, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation will host the Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Arts, and Spirituality in Moscow. Its goal is to tell about the work of one of the brilliant poets and thinkers of the East, Imadaddin Nasimi (1369-1417) and to expand cultural and literary ties between Russia and Azerbaijan.
As part of the festival, the bust of Nasimi will be unveiled at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).
The Institute of Asian and African Countries (ISAA) and the Moscow State University will host an event dedicated to the poet. The speakers will talk about Nasimi's role in the development of Azerbaijani poetry, his contribution to world culture and literature. MSU students will recite Nasimi's poems in various languages, the Markhaba poetry and music performance will be presented by actors from Azerbaijan.
On November 20, a conference dedicated to the heritage of Nasimi will be held at the Institute of Asian and African Countries. It will feature presentations on the following topics: 'The Nasimi Festival: practice of dynamic interpretation of the cultural and ideological heritage', 'Nasimi and Jan Hus. cultural unity of the East and the West', 'Language of Nasimi - yesterday, today, tomorrow' and other topics.
Along with the speeches, which analyze the various aspects of Nasimi’s creativity, his literary and philosophical heritage, the conference will include discussions on the spirituality of modern youth, the development of ties between the youth of Russia and Azerbaijan.
