The district inspector-investigator of the Makhinjauri (Adjara) police department was detained on suspicion of extortion, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia informed.
The detention was carried out by employees of the General Inspectorate of the Ministry. Details of the case are unknown, Novosti-Georgia reports.
A case was filed under Article 181 ‘Extortion’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The detainee may be sentenced to two to four years in prison.
