Vladimir Putin celebrates 64th birthday

Russian President Vladimir Putin is marking his 64th birthday on Friday, October 7.

Putin will celebrate his birthday with his relatives and friends, no public events are planned, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

The President is receiving numerous congratulations from the world leaders.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made a phone call to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Aliyev congratulated Putin on his birthday and wished him robust health and success in his activities.

Azerbaijani president also extended congratulations on the victory of the United Russia party in the parliamentary elections and noted that Russian people once again showed their support to the policy pursued by Vladimir Putin.

Putin, for his part, expressed gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the attention, congratulations and kind words.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko also congratulated the Russian leader: "Belarus is interested in fruitful cooperation with Russia in all the spheres, deepening equitable and effective cooperation in the integration formats."

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan wished Putin "new success in his policies aimed at the increase of the well-being of the citizens of Russia".

He stressed Putin's contribution to implementation of "important interstate strategic agreements, including economic, military-technical, investment, humanitarian and others".

Congratulations to Vladimir Putin were sent by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia and Russian Supreme Mufti Talgat Tajuddin.

"Your life is devoted to serving Russia. Many significant events are associated with your name. Especially I would like to note your efforts in combating extremism and terrorism," the press service cited the Patriarch as saying.

Mufti Tajuddin, in turn, emphasized "the uncommon energy and large-scale strategic thinking" of Putin.

Tajuddin also stressed the efforts of the President in the field of socio-economic development, peace, mutual respect between peoples and followers of traditional religions and wished him to multiply the glory and power of Russia.
