Varahmatulla Merza, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War who lives in the Kuzbass town of Osinniki, received congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Governor Aman Tuleyev and Mayor Igor Romanov on the occasion of his 95th birthday.
Their good wishes were conveyed to the war veteran by the head of the local city council, Alexander Bykov.
He was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War of the II degree for his feats. In addition, he has such medals as "Miner's Glory" of the II and III degrees, "Victor of Socialist Competition" and other awards, the information portal of the Kemerovo region reports.
