Vladimir Vladimirov: North–South is very important project for entire Caucasus and southern Russia

Stavropol Territory Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, who arrived in Moscow to participate in the 10th Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum, told Vestnik Kavkaza about the current state and prospects of cooperation between Stavropol and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

"I will personally attend and address the forum. Azerbaijan's experience in vegetable production is very important for us. Now we're trying to agree on reviving the project to build the Vostochny greenhouse in the Levokumsk region. We really want this direction to be supported. Without a doubt, our traditional points of interaction are the supply of agricultural products, mainly grain, to Azerbaijan," he said int the first place.

"We will negotiate to supply seeds to Azerbaijan in addition to grain. We have greatly increased the seed industry, excellent plants operate in the Novoselitsky district, and we strive to increase the production volumes at least tenfold. Seeds are a profitable part of the Stavropol Territory's economy," Vladimir Vladimirov added.

"The traditional topic of negotiations is the vacation of Azerbaijani tourists on the territory of the Caucasian Mineral Waters and investment in the region's tourism infrastructure. Now four facilities are being built, we will agree on the fifth one: a nine-story building will be built at the 'Voronezh' sanatorium in Yessentuki with the money of Azerbaijani businessmen," the governor of the Stavropol Territory said.

He also supported the implementation of the International North–South Transport Corridor project. "This railway exit through Azerbaijan and Iran to India will be an opportunity for Stavropol to have international access to a huge market. On the whole, this is a very important project for the Caucasus, for the south of Russia, we all appreciate its implementation," Vladimir Vladimirov concluded.
