What can UN do to seek justice over crimes against Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, addressing the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, reminded the world of the unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Speaking at the event, he said that the international community's double-standard approach is a cause of Armenia's  non-compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

"Armenia has been occupying 20% of Azerbaijan's territory for more than 25 years - Nagorno-Karabakh and seven regions of our country," the President noted. He stressed that Nagorno-Karabakh is an ancient, historic land of Azerbaijan. 

"More than one million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons," Ilham Aliyev said.

Azerbaijani President  recalled once again that Armenia committed genocide against Azerbaijanis in Khojaly. "On February 26, 1992, Armenia committed a war crime, killing 613 peaceful residents, including 106 women and 63 children," he said. The President noted that current Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan was one of those war criminals who committed that terrible crime against humanity.

Ilham Aliyev also said stressed that Azerbaijan is committed to peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved on the basis of international law, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be completely restored,” the Azerbaijani president concluded.
