Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party faction urged to curtail the powers of the republic's prime minister, Armen Rustamyan, head of Dashnaktsutyun Party faction, said at the parliamentary briefings in the National Assembly.
According to him, the parliamentary system of governance in Armenia should not be eliminated but developed, and steps should be taken toward more decentralization.
"It stems from this that the powers of the PM should be curtailed," News,am cited Rustamyan as saying.
The ARF NA faction head also said a new electoral code should be adopted in Armenia, and which should not have a regional-rating election system.
Rustamyan noted that even though the ARF does not expect to become a part of the next government in the country, they want for the expected Nikol Pashinyan-led government to succeed, and they will assist him on this matter.
Also, Rustamyan considers the forming of a government of national consent to be logical. "We have spoken about the principles which, in our view, are right to lay at the foundation of a new government. We are ready to assist; but it’s not important with what status that will be," he said, adding that they stand ready to assume responsibility.
