Today, the opposition electoral bloc ‘Armenian National Congress’, the People's Party of Armenia issued a call to the other political forces, participating in the parliamentary elections, to postpone the election date from April 2 to April 9.
The ANC initiated the postponement of the elections on January 31, explaining that April 2 is the date of the beginning of the April fighting for Karabakh, when the Armenian occupation forces were thrown from the part of the occupied Azerbaijani lands. For the citizens of Armenia this day is a memory day of those who perished in those days a year ago, and it would be wrong to hold elections on that day, the congress believes.
