In the Ust-Kamenogorsk zoo, a child stuck his finger into a cage with a wolf, and the predator bit him. The parents of a 10-year-old girl filed a complaint with the police: they believe that zoo enclosures are unsafe.

The incident happened in the Ust-Kamenogorsk zoo: a 10-year-old girl tried to pet a wolf, and the predator bit her finger.

YK-news.kz reports on the incident.

According to the father of the victim, his daughter, and wife came to the zoo, and at some point, the girl wanted to pet the wolf through the enclosure.

The child’s parents are sure that the predators at the zoo live in unsafe enclosures, and the staff should take action.

What zoo says

Representatives of the zoo say that if the parents of the child immediately turned to them, the trained staff would help the girl. In addition, they would call an ambulance.

However, the father and mother preferred to make the case public later, as well as to inform police.

According to the representatives of the zoo, there are two dozen predators, including three wolves, in the zoo. All of them live in special, maximally safe enclosures.

What police thinks

The law enforcement officers confirmed they received the girl’s mother’s claims against the zoo workers.

“In this case, there is no administrative or criminal offense. In this regard, we recommend applying to the court privately,”

 the police department says.

The visitors to the zoo are required to comply with safety rules. Signs on the enclosures are warning that predators can be dangerous.
