World Bank to help in cleaning up Absheron Lakes

The World Bank (WB) will help to clean up and rehabilitate the lakes on the Absheron Peninsula in Azerbaijan. The relevant draft will be discussed at the World Bank's Board of Directors on July 18th 2017.

The estimated cost of the project is $100 million, $85 million of which are funds from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), which is the part of the World Bank, and $15 million from the government of Azerbaijan. The project will cover four lakes located to the south-west of Baku – Khojasan, Lokbatan, Girmizi and Gu.
