Armenian leader Nikol Pashinyan decided to create another channel of direct dialogue with the Azerbaijani authorities, this time along a military line, to investigate the shootings on the border of the two countries.

Today, Chairman of the Government of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan made a proposal to the Azerbaijani authorities to investigate border incidents on a bilateral basis, without the participation of any intermediaries, which contradicts the latest policy of Yerevan.

To monitor the situation on the conditional Armenian-Azerbaijani border, an “observation” mission of the European Union has been operating in Armenia since October 2022. Over the past months, the mission has never been to the sites of skirmishes between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, did not participate in their investigation, and did not influence the border situation.

“To understand the real situation, including for the international community, I think it would be a good idea to form a bilateral mechanism to investigate violations of the ceasefire on the border,”

– Nikol Pashinyan said.
