On December 25, Hrachya Sargsyan officially became the Mayor of Yerevan. He took the oath at an extraordinary meeting of the City Council of Elders, Sputnik Armenia reports.
He pledged to follow the Constitution and laws, to comply with the decisions of the City Council of Elders, to fulfill his duties in good faith, to work every day for the welfare of the city's residents, to protect the legitimate interests of the city dwellers.
"I commit to take care of the preservation and increase of the glory of our ancient city, to contribute to the material and spiritual progress of Yerevanians. These goals will be realized with the support of the residents of Yerevan, other cities and villages of Armenia and Artsakh, as well as the Diaspora," the new mayor said.
