Russia has joined the settlement of the Syrian crisis, because otherwise an increase of tension in Syria could destabilize the situation in Central Asia, the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, said.
"If we would give up Syria ... Where is the guarantee that tomorrow Central Asia won't rise up? Our direct interests are there. Not in terms of oil, gas or something, but in terms of human relations," Komsomolskaya Pravda cited him as saying.
Speaking about the situation in the Middle East, Yevkurov said that there are historical and geopolitical interests in this region, which began to take shape even before the Soviet Union and were finally formed during the Soviet Union and in today's Russia.
