Yesterday a member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, a representative of the executive body of state power of the Tula Region, senator Julia Veprintseva, visited the studio of Vestnik Kavkaza. During the program Tribuna she spoke about the key challenges facing domestic tourism in Russia.
As Veprintseva stressed, the topic of domestic tourism is topical today, because it is closely connected with the development of Russian regions.
The senator noted that the effective development of tourism requires government support. "We have a federal target program for the development of domestic tourism, but we understand that there is not enough money which comes from the state on the development of regional tourism and infrastructure. There should also be sponsors investing in the tourism industry for its development. There are few hotels or places to stay with different price qualifications in each region. Also, the quality of roads is not so good in the regions," Yulia Veprintseva noted.
The senator said that in respect of one of the most promising areas, ecological tourism, has no legislative support, "while ecotourism includes several legislative structures: the protection of the environment and ecology and the sphere of agriculture." "Meanwhile, the format of ecotourism would be very important for Russia, because our nature itself provides great opportunities for everyone who wants to rest," a member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy stressed.
According to Veprintseva, the current financial situation, due to the fall of the ruble, has given considerable impetus to the development of domestic tourism.
Veprintseva remembered the Caucasus as a child because of its nature and clean air. "When I was a child I went to various cities with my parents, and the Caucasus remained in my memory due to its beautiful nature and the very good relations of people to their guests," she said, adding that Russians are poorly informed about the specific character of the Russian regions and tourist routes.
"I believe that we need to give more information about each region, which is why the Agency for Tourism is developing a portal where each region can tell us about itself. The informing is one of the cornerstones of the development of domestic tourism in Russia," Yulia Veprintseva said.
