Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed hope that the Russian resolution, which was introduced to the UN Security Council on September 30, will be able to change the situation in the fight against terrorism.
"We are confident that the international community must put special efforts into cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism in the region. Unfortunately, there were no coordinated international activities in this field. We hope that the Russian initiative will change the situation," Zarif said.
It is expected that the work on the resolution will last about a month, during which the Russian side may consult on the text of the document, Trend reports.
